Hyperbaric Chamber Comparison Guide

Hyperbaric Chamber Comparison Guide

Comparing hyperbaric chambers comes down to six variables: shell construction, maximum working pressure, occupant capacity, how oxygen is delivered, installation demands, and the compliance documentation that comes with the unit. This guide explains each one and then compares all five HyperbaricO2Care models side by side.

1. Shell construction: rigid versus soft-sided

Rigid (hard-shell) Soft-sided (inflatable)
Structure Welded steel or composite pressure vessel Fabric or reinforced membrane inflated by air
Typical weight 200–2,000 kg 20–120 kg
Pressure ceiling Comfortably supports 1.5–1.75 atm and above Commonly limited to about 1.3–1.5 ATA
Durability Designed for continuous commercial duty cycles More suited to occasional or personal use
Installation Fixed position; needs floor loading and access planning Portable, quick to set up and pack away

We manufacture rigid vessels exclusively. Read the broader debate in hard vs soft hyperbaric chambers.

2. Working pressure

Mild systems typically operate between 1.1 and 1.75 atm. Higher working pressure is not automatically “better” — it increases engineering demands, cost and screening requirements. What matters is that the published figure is the genuine working pressure of a certified vessel. Our range runs 1.7 atm, with the POLARIS Duo rated to 1.75 atm.

3. Occupancy: monoplace versus multiplace

A monoplace chamber treats one person; a multiplace chamber treats two or more simultaneously. For commercial operators, throughput per square metre is usually the deciding factor. See chambers for clinics for capacity planning.

4. Oxygen delivery

Our chambers are air-pressurised, with enriched oxygen delivered to the user by mask or headset at ≥80–90% concentration. This is the standard architecture for mild systems. Clinical systems instead fill the entire cabin with 100% medical oxygen, which requires different fire-safety engineering.

5. Installation

Check three things before ordering: floor loading (our units range from 200 kg to 2,000 kg), door and corridor access, and power supply. The NEPTUNE Flow at 200 kg is the easiest to site; the TITAN Duo at 2,000 kg needs the most planning.

Frequently asked questions

Is a higher ATA always better?

Not necessarily. Above roughly 1.5 ATA the engineering, screening and insurance requirements increase significantly. Match the pressure to the application rather than maximising the number.

Can one chamber serve both home and commercial use?

Yes in principle, but commercial duty cycles are far heavier. If you intend to sell sessions, choose a model built for continuous operation.

Do you make soft-sided chambers?

No. We manufacture rigid pressure vessels exclusively — see our manufacturing standards.

What documentation is supplied?

CE marking and ISO 13485 quality management documentation are provided with every order, along with technical files and operating manuals.
